Publish What You Pay works for a world where all citizens benefit from their natural resources, today and tomorrow.
We believe that increasing transparency in the extractive sector will enable citizens to hold governments and companies to account for the ways in which natural resources are managed.
Our mission is for a more transparent and accountable extractive sector, that enables citizens to have a say over whether their resources are extracted, how they are extracted and how their extractive revenues are spent.
In order for this to be realized, we need more openness in the sector – contracts should be published and made accessible to the public for scrutiny, revenue payments and receipts should be published and tracked, communities should be given all the information they need to make an informed choice about whether to move ahead with the extraction.
Transparency and accountability is needed along every step of the value chain from finding out the natural wealth of a country to winding down an extractive project.
